LIPOCONTRAST FAQ

Lipocontrast- Frequently asked questions

How does the lipocontrast treatment work?

Lipocontrast is a new patented medical technique for the reduction of localized fat cells through a selective and non-invasive process called Thermo lipolysis contrast.
The fatty tissue to be treated is suctioned on contact with a handpiece on the skin and receives  a triple thermal shock via the parameters of time, speed, temperature and very precise energy.
Through the thermal shock effect, the fat cells crystallize and die immediately during the session. These cells are eliminated and gradually drain through the lymphatic system in a few weeks.

How does the cellulite treatment work?

The lipocontrast machine has an additional function of cellulite removal. A separate handpiece is used for this treatment. The combination of heat and suction causes a draining massage effect. The aim is to soften the cellulite and push it away from the surface of the skin, resulting in the area being treated to appear smoother.

Which areas can be treated?

  • Upper and lower stomach
  • Love handles
  • Back
  • Chin
  • Underarms
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Knees
  • Cellulite on the back of the legs and buttocks

How long will it take for me to see results?

Up to a third of the results may be visible immediately after the first treatment, however, it will take between 2 and 4 weeks for your full results to be visible.

How many treatments will I need?

Between 1 and 3 treatments may be needed for optimum results, depending on the density of fat cells in the area. Each treatment can only be treated a maximum of 3 times in your lifetime. There must be a minimum of 4 weeks’ rest time between treatments.

The cellulite treatment will take around 3 treatments at 2-week intervals to achieve optimum results and any area can be treated an unlimited amount of times. However, we recommend 1 cellulite treatment per month to keep cellulite at bay.

How long will the results last?

When a fat cell dies, it can not be replaced by another adult fat cell. Therefore, the results of the death of the fat cell are permanent. However, if for example, we have 100 fat cells in one area, and we kill 60 of these fat cells, the remaining 40 fat cells will still continue to expand through poor diet and inadequate exercise. It will, however, take longer to gain weight in the particular area that has been treated.

The results of the cellulite treatment will last around 1-2 months. Once we have pushed the fatty deposits (causing the appearance of cellulite) away from the surface to smooth out the appearance of your legs, it will slowly start to work its way back to the surface over the course of a month or 2.

Are results guaranteed?

Fat reduction may occur by up to 33% in one treatment area, however, no guarantees are made to the final outcome as this is determined by your lifestyle post procedure. The liver plays a huge part in the fat cell removal process, hence the health of your liver may affect the outcome of your treatment. In some very rare cases, a proportion of clients are non-responders.

What should I expect to feel during the treatment?

At the beginning of the session, you will feel a pulling action in the treated area caused by the suction of the fat through contact with the handpiece. The skin is heated to 41 degrees’ c for 10 minutes, to liquefy the fat and more easily mobilize it to remove it next.
the suctioned fatty area is then cooled to 3 degrees C for a further 40 minutes to crystallize the fat cells. During the first 10 minutes of this part of the process, you may feel a pinching sensation and some mild discomfort.
Finally, the Lipocontrast heats the fat cells again to liquefy the area and optimize the results.

The cellulite treatment can cause an intense tingling sensation whilst being performed. The more cellulite is present in the area, the more sensitive you will be. The intensity of the suction can be turned up or down depending on each individual’s sensitivity.

How will I feel/ look immediately after the treatment?

After treatment with the lipocontrast machine, you may experience some slight swelling and/or bruising. Some areas bruise more than others. For this reason, we recommend that you do not have this treatment too close to a holiday or event where the treated area will need to be on show. Bruising may last up to 2 weeks.

Are there any medical conditions that may stop me from having this treatment?

There are very few medical conditions that may prevent you from having this treatment. However, we will require you to fill out a pre-treatment consultation form prior to your appointment. This form will be sent out in the post or picked up in the salon in advance of your appointment. If there are any medical conditions that you tick yes to on your medical form, please contact us directly and we can discuss this matter.

Are there any other reasons I may not be able to have this treatment?

  • This treatment can not be performed directly over scar tissue, i.e. hysterectomy scarring. We can treat the surrounding area, but not directly over the scar. We recommend leaving 12 months’ post surgery before having treatment in the surrounding area.
  • If you are more than 3 stone above your healthy BMI, unfortunately, this treatment will not achieve the results desired and may cause a ‘spooning’ effect (indentation) in the area. We can provide recommendations for nutritional health coaches and healthy eating plans. We have found that the lipocontrast treatment can provide a fantastic source of motivation for clients who put this into their long term diet plan and look forward to treating themselves to a treatment once they reach their goal weight.
  • Cuts, existing bruises or skin conditions such as eczema are all contraindications to this treatment.
  • This treatment can not be carried directly over a tattoo or body piercing. All piercings close to the treatment area must be removed before your appointment.
  • This treatment can not be carried out if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What are the aftercare instructions for this treatment?

We recommend after treatment to…

  • Exercise
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid excessive alcohol
  • Resume your daily activities
  • monitor your measurements
  • Photograph the area weekly

We hope this information has been useful to you, and if you have any more questions regarding the treatment, please don’t hesitate to call, a member of our team will be happy to answer any of your questions. xxx
