If you’re considering laser tattoo removal—whether for permanent makeup eyebrows or a body tattoo, you likely have questions about the process, effectiveness, and what to expect. At Rebecca Jaynes, we specialise in semi permanent and permanent eyebrow tattoo removal.
Why Choose Laser Removal for Permanent Makeup?
Laser removal is one of the most effective methods for lightening and removing unwanted permanent makeup and microblading pigment.
The treatment works by delivering controlled pulses of light energy into the pigment, breaking it into smaller particles that can then be gradually cleared away by the body’s natural processes.
Laser removal is particularly useful for clients who:
- Have old permanent makeup that has faded to grey, blue, red or pink tones
- Are unhappy with the shape of their brows
- Want to prepare the skin for new permanent makeup
- Wish to remove their eyebrow tattoo completely
Many clients see significant fading after their first treatment, although every set of brows responds differently depending on the pigment used, the depth of implantation and how many previous procedures have been performed.
Our aim is always to achieve the safest and most predictable outcome possible while maintaining healthy skin and eyebrow hair.
Laser Tattoo Removal for Eyebrows: FAQs
Does Laser Removal Hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick but sharp stinging/snapping feeling against the skin. Treatment is very fast, with eyebrow treatments typically taking only a few minutes.
What Happens to My Eyebrow Hair?
Some clients experience temporary frosting or lightening of the eyebrow hairs immediately after treatment. This is usually temporary and normal, with hairs returning to their natural colour over the following days.
The darker the hair, the more noticeable this temporary lightening can be.
Will Laser Remove Every Colour?
Not always.
Different pigments respond differently to laser treatment. While darker pigments often fade very well, some cosmetic tattoo pigments can leave behind residual red, orange, pink or yellow tones.
In these cases, we may recommend combining laser removal with other removal methods, such as saline removal, to achieve the best possible result.
During your consultation we will discuss the most suitable approach based on your existing pigment and desired outcome.
Will My Brows Look Strange During the Healing Process?
Immediately after treatment, the area may look slightly red or swollen, and some clients experience temporary frosting of the skin. However, because we rarely see scabbing or bruising with our method, most clients can wear makeup the next day.
You may experience the ink ‘flipping’ or changing colour which can happen immediately after. The brows can turn orange or yellow before removing fully.
How much does it cost?
We currently charge £75 per session of removal on eyebrows. For body tattoo removal please contact us.
Will the colour lighten straight away or change colour?
Each service can be quite unique depending on the type of ink, the depth of implantation and the amount of ink in the skin. Many clients experience significant fading after their first session, although the number of treatments required varies considerably between individuals.
Can I Get My Eyebrows Re-tattooed Right Away?
No, after your final removal session, you must wait at least 12 weeks before having new permanent makeup applied. This ensures the skin is fully healed and that no residual ink remains that could interfere with the new pigment. Brows can be laminated or tinted 2 weeks post laser treatment.
Can You Remove Just a Part of My Eyebrow Tattoo?
Yes! We can target specific areas of the tattoo for partial removal or reshaping. However we will often recommend full removal/lightening for optimal results.
Will My Skin Scar?
Scarring following laser removal is uncommon; however, as with any procedure that creates a controlled response within the skin, it cannot be completely ruled out. Certain individuals may have a higher risk of scarring due to factors such as skin type, previous scar history, underlying medical conditions, medications, or individual healing characteristics.
A thorough consultation and medical history review will be carried out prior to treatment to assess your suitability and discuss any potential risks. Our treatment protocols are designed to target pigment whilst minimising unnecessary trauma to the surrounding tissue, helping to support optimal healing and reduce the risk of adverse effects.
What If My Tattoo Is Deep or Multi-Colored?
Dark, black, and blue inks respond best to laser removal, while lighter colors like yellow and red can take longer to break down. If your tattoo is multi-layered (has been reworked multiple times), you may need extra sessions. Yellow will not remove with laser removal.

How to Book
For bookings, please email info@rebecca-jaynes.com with your enquiry, availability and if possible, a picture of your brows as they are now. This will allow us to assess suitability and give an idea of how many sessions we feel you may need. However we will need to perform a patch test on the brow to get a better understanding of how the pigment will lift before performing the full service.
